“My religion consists of a humble admiration of the illimitable superior spirit who reveals himself in the slight details we are able to perceive with our frail and feeble mind.”

Josh Groban Singing at the Emmy’s

After listening to Paulson and Greenspan the last 72 hours I needed some joy in my life.
At least I got a smile out of this one:
Jon Gibson

I love Jon Gibson’s music. It seems to me he’s been working on this last album for way to long though.
Jon, we’re ready already.
Democrats vs Republicans

“O God, make the bad people good, and the good people nice”
-Prayer of a little English Girl (From ‘What’s so Amazing about Grace?’ by Philip Yancey)
Liberal has become such a negative word. From dictionary.com:
1. favorable to progress or reform
Anybody who wouldn’t want ‘progress’ is foolish. Let’s face it, the United States was founded on ‘progress and reform’. The reality is that ‘liberal’ has taken on a new meaning. An almost ‘if it feels good, do it’ mind-frame. I’m reminded of the recurring theme in Judges “In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.” It’s the ‘liberals’ support of pro-choice and so called ‘gay-rights’ that have fundamentalist Christians so radically against so-called ‘liberals’.
Then we have those who claim to be a ‘social-liberal and fiscal-conservative’. This is sort of the easy way out of a discussion, but fundamentally impossible. You can’t support social programs without paying for them. If you’re a social-liberal you have to be willing to open you wallet.
If you’re pro-life, be pro-life. Being anti-abortion and pro-death penalty is not pro-life, it’s anti-abortion. Starting wars based on lies and fear is another issue altogether, I’m not even going to get into here.
Churches get to work, if you were fulfilling the call of Christ there would be no need for the social welfare programs in this country.
“The world is sleeping in the dark, that the church just can’t fight, ’cause it’s asleep in the light’ – (Asleep in the Light, by Keith Green)
“O God please, make the Democrats good, and the Republicans nice”

Problem with Company Leaders
Aug 30th
“strong charasmatic leaders can all to easily become the de facto reailty driving a company… people worried more about the leader, what he would say, what he would think, what he would do than they worried about external reality and what it could do to the company “
- Jim Collins “Good to Great”
McCain-Palin Anagrams
Aug 29th
I love anagrams.
I had to check the McCain-Palin ticket to see what exactly could be derived from names… the results:
McCain-Palin = Panic in Calm
on the other hand:
Obama-Biden = Bob Idea Man
Did Phelps really win?
Aug 23rd
I was stoked to watch Phelps win the 100m butterfly.
Today, Yahoo reports ‘Photo’s prove Phelps won 100-meter butterfly’.
I thought that was old news? Was there really a controversy?
I reviewed my DVR a few times at the different angles shown on TV. I knew it was futile. At best I was recording it at 29.97 frames per second. Far too slow to catch an ‘out-touch’ of .01 second, in reality maybe it was closer than the .01, They don’t measure thousandths of seconds, it could have been .001, we’ll never know. Even my new HD Sony HDR-CX7 will only record up to 60 fps. Maybe next time Phelps can try to win in a little over .03 seconds so we can actually watch the ‘out touch’.
Brett Favre is a New York Jet
Aug 7th
The Jet’s are always mentioned in the rumors of any big free agent or trade possibility. I got a call waking me just after 1:00am.
“Are you watching ESPN?” the voice said.
“Did we get him?” I replied.
The deal was done, Favre for a conditional draft pick. A 4th round pick right now, up to a 1st round pick if the Jets make the Super Bowl.
This brings back memories of players like Ronnie Lott & Art Monk coming to the Jets in the 90′s. Hall of Fame, game changing stars, reduced to role players.
I believe Favre can still play at a very high level. I never thought he would retire after the loss to the Giants. He’s far to competitive to end his career on an interception.
Favre put the Packers in a difficult situation, they have their new franchise quarterback right where they want him. No, not Aaron Rodgers, Brian Brohm. Aaron Rodgers will ‘take one for the team’. Packers fans will never accept him, especially now. After his first interception the fans will be calling for Brohm to replace him.
The Atlanta/Louisville connection.
16 years ago, the Jets had Favre #1 on their draft board. They had no first round pick, and held the 34th overall pick. Unfortunately the 33rd pick would snag Favre. The Jets would take Browning Nagle from Louisville. Nagle was known to throw the ball deep and hard. Unfortunately he would throw the ball short and hard as well. (He was actually drafted into pro baseball as a pitcher years before) Nagles career would take him through Atlanta, the same team that stole Louisville’s (Brohm’s) coach last year, the team that originally drafted Favre. Now Brohm will be Favres replacement in Green Bay and the Jets get the guy they wanted all along, since 1991.
ESPN – Favre era ends in Green Bay with trade to Jets – NFL.
